Junior Auditor - Financial Services
Roles & Responsibilities
The fundamental role of an auditor is defined as "reporting on whether the annual accounts show 'a true and fair view' of the company's financial activity and position to its shareholders". For you, the best part is that audit affects all businesses.
This means you'll have the opportunity to experience a professional insight into the unique way of working within Banking and Insurance companies. A Financial Services auditor assesses the business processes and internal controls of a large type of banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions that are active nationally and internationally and plays a key role in the prudential supervision organized by the regulators.
As an Auditor within the Financial Services at KPMG, you will be doing much more than just looking at the company's financial records. You will be auditing consolidated and annual financial statements in accordance with Belgian and international accounting standards and you will perform annual regulatory, in-depth as well as special audits. You will deal with a very dynamic regulatory context, and sectors which are of systemic importance and face unique challenges.
Additionally, you will get to meet lots of interesting people and develop skills that are always in demand. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior business people.
You will be likely to perform the following tasks during your first year:
- Planning and carrying out audit fieldwork, reporting and completion work for companies active in the Financial Services sector;
- Preparing an audit file in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing (“ISA”) and KPMG's standards. Preparing a report outlining the findings from your audit work. Keeping managers and partners up to date with progress of the audit;
- Visiting clients on-site and being a point of contact for the client throughout the year;
- Keeping up to date with KPMG's product and service offerings and identifying business opportunities within your client base;
- Gain a strong understanding of the Financial Services sector and its key actors, and use this understanding in your daily work and interactions with the client;
- Assist in the prudential supervision of the audited entity.

We are looking for students who have or will soon hold a university degree in Commercial Engineering, a major in accountancy or finance is a plus, Commercial Sciences or (Applied) Economic Sciences. But while we believe academic qualifications are an important pointer as to how you might succeed at our firm, these are far from being the only things you'll be assessed on.
There are several other capabilities we believe you'll need to demonstrate while you're with KPMG. These are:

- Client-centricity
